Carlton Tyson
Carlton Tyson, founder, CEO, and President of the Tyson Group Companies is a product of Union County. Having started his business in 1972, Carlton has witnessed incredible growth in this region. He has many accomplishments which have benefited this county and surrounding areas. Some of his residential accomplishments include Camelot, the first condominiums in Monroe and Vineyard Point, one of the first condominium projects on Lake Norman. He is also responsible for the development of a number of residential subdivisions in Union County. Carlton’s commercial accomplishments include Metro Medical, one of Union County’s first medical communities and Industrial Ventures I and II, which brought new business to the area and provided new buildings for 65 other businesses. Carlton has also developed many retail facilities, including The Tyson Center and Shops at Nottingham Plaza, and has also been credited with bringing the Hampton Inn to Monroe. Carlton has played a large role in the development of banking in Union County by organizing Family Savings & Loan in the 1980s, and assisting in the organization of American Community Bank where he served on the Board of Directors.

Carlton has always played an active role in the development of Union County through his many projects, but also by serving in many different roles with the Chamber. He has served as Secretary and Vice President for the Chamber of Commerce and he currently serves as Director. He was also on the committee that began the self-insurers Worker’s Compensation Program. In addition, Carlton was named Entrepreneur of the Year in 2002, inducted into the Business Hall of Fame in 2004 by the Union County Chamber, and he was recognized as Realtor of the Year and as Homebuilder of the Year. Carlton is also responsible for the building of the new Hospice facility in Union County, building it only at cost!

His business accomplishments are too numerous to list them all but his attitude of “giving back” is what sets him apart from others in the industry. Currently, he is the In-Kind Contractor for the construction of a new Hospice House in Union County. Continuing with his community involvement, Carlton was on the Jury Commission, he was past Chairman of the Union County Planning Board, served on the Union County Tourism Board, was a charter member of the Union County Kiwanis Club, and a past member of the Union County Rotary Club. Ron ParkerRon Parker
Ronald T. Parker is the Vice President of L.C. Tyson Construction, Inc. and has been with the company since 1989. He is a graduate of Western Carolina University and the University of South Carolina and currently holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Education and Technology. He has a North Carolina Broker’s license and the General Contractor qualification. Before joining Tyson Group Companies, Ron was the Director of Research at McGee Corporation in Matthews, NC.
